Here's what Long Island homeowners ask us most about move-in cleaning.
When should I schedule my move-in cleaning?
Move-in cleaning requires the home to be empty of furniture with cabinets and refrigerator also emptied. Schedule the service after furniture has been removed and before new furniture arrives — ideally the day after closing or the day before movers arrive. This gives us full access to every room and surface.
Do utilities need to be on?
Yes. Running water and electricity must remain available throughout the cleaning. Please arrange for utilities to stay connected until the service is complete.
How is move-in cleaning different from regular cleaning?
Move-in cleaning is more intensive. We clean inside every cabinet, drawer, and closet. We deep clean inside appliances like the oven and refrigerator. We clean areas that are inaccessible once furniture is in place. It's designed to start you off completely fresh.
What's included in move-in cleaning?
Your move-in cleaning includes interior cleaning of one oven and one refrigerator, kitchen cabinet interiors and exteriors, and interior window glass and tracks, alongside the other listed cleaning tasks throughout the booked home. Interior window cleaning covers windows accessible from a step ladder; exterior window cleaning and screen cleaning are not included. Additional ovens, refrigerators, garages, and basements are available as optional extras.
What if the previous owners left the home dirty?
That's exactly what we're here for. Whether it's dusty from sitting vacant, has pet odors, or just wasn't maintained well — we handle it all. Let us know about any specific concerns when you book so we can allocate extra time if needed.
How long does a move-in cleaning take?
A typical 3-bedroom home takes 5-7 hours with a team of 1-2 cleaners. Larger homes or those needing extra attention may take longer. We'll give you a time estimate when you book based on your home's size and condition.
Can I transition to recurring cleaning after?
Absolutely — most of our move-in clients do exactly that. You'll keep the same cleaner who already knows your new home. We'll set up your recurring schedule (weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly) before we leave. Starting fresh makes maintenance so much easier.
